A brand born from real pain — and real persistence

 

Vertera™ was created by Mason Healer, a retired Canadian who spent most of his life living with chronic back pain.

From a young age, Mason suffered from congenital scoliosis, which was later complicated by spinal disc displacement after a serious accident. Over time, this progressed into disc herniations, protrusions, and eventually sciatic pain that affected nearly every aspect of his daily life — from sleep to mobility.

Like many people facing long-term back issues, Mason tried everything.

 

When standard solutions weren’t enough

Over decades, Mason underwent countless treatments — chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, massage, yoga, posture correction programs, and pain management routines. He studied medical literature, clinical research, and emerging therapeutic approaches, determined to understand not just the symptoms, but the root causes of spinal pain.

His case became particularly valuable to researchers and therapists, as it reflected a complex, real-world combination of structural misalignment, muscle tension, and nerve compression — making him an ideal participant for clinical testing and applied research in spinal support solutions.

A breakthrough focused on the root cause

Through collaborative research with leading therapeutic specialists, a new approach began to take shape — one that didn’t rely on medications or short-term fixes.

Instead of simply masking pain, the focus shifted to:

• supporting healthier spinal alignment

• reducing lower-back muscle tension

• encouraging better posture during rest and recovery

When an early prototype support belt was introduced to Mason as part of this work, the results were immediately noticeable. For the first time in years, he experienced consistent relief — not just from pain, but from the underlying strain contributing to it.

From personal solution to shared mission

Recognizing the potential to help others facing the same struggles, Mason refined the original concept. He focused on improving comfort, usability, and design — creating a support solution that people would actually want to use as part of their daily routine.

That vision became Vertera™.
